Shany Barath

Asst. Prof. Shany Barath is an architect and founder of Disrupt.Design Lab (D.DLab) at the Technion’s Faculty of Architecture and Town Planning. Her research integrates material systems, manufacturing technologies, and computational methods to foster design-for-sustainability that is responsive to environmental and cultural contexts.

As the recipient of the Climate Solutions Prize for breakthrough research and the Design Educates Award for universal design, she explores design-led processes that drive sustainable impact in the built environment. Her work introduces design-to-fabrication workflows using bio-based, waste, and biologically enhanced materials, addressing critical ecological challenges by advocating for multidisciplinary and multiscalar approaches that redefine the role of architecture in contemporary practice.
